Build a quantity ledger
Write each headline quantity once with its source table or calculation, full-precision value, reporting precision, unit, and sample condition.
Search by value and label
Exact text search finds copied values; searching the quantity name catches rounded or converted forms. Record every occurrence before deciding which one is stale.
Distinguish transformations
A mean, percentage, logarithm, normalized value, or converted unit can legitimately differ from its inputs. Require a visible transformation path instead of insisting on identical tokens.
Correct from the source outward
Verify the calculation or authoritative table first, then update dependent figures and prose. Never choose a value only because it appears most often.
